_ - _ = Subtraction

Subtraction (symbol “ –“ ) is the mathematical operation of removing some objects  from a group.
For example:
6 – 3 = 3   is "Three objects are taken away from a group of six objects and three objects remain".

Now that the concept of subtraction is more clear, you can enjoy coloring your numbers :)

Notice also that you have to print your work and bring it with you to class on tuesday!

_ * _ = Multiplication

Multiplication (symbol "×") is the mathematical operation of scaling one number by another.

For example:

2 multiplied by 3 (said as "5 times 7") can be calculated by adding 2 copies of 3 together:
2 x 3 = 3+3 = 6
         3 x 2 = 2+2+2 = 6

Here 2 and 3 are the "factors" and 6 is the "product".

Now you can start working on the table of multiplication from number 2 to 5:

And now use your multiplication table to color your cowgirl and don't forget to print it out and bring it with you on thursday!

_ + _ = Addition

Addition (symbol "+") is the mathematical operation of combining collections of objects together into a larger collection.
For example:
3 added to 2 (said "3 plus 2") can be calculated by adding 3 to 2:
                  3 + 2 = 5.

As you can see in the picture, there are three apples and two other apples; which means that in sum we have five apples.
therefore,  3 + 2 = 5.

Now that we all have understood how to add two numbers together, you will find some interactive links that will help you to exercice more for this new chapter.

And please notice that the work sheets are printable and don't forget to bring them with you for monday.

Just click and see what is going to happen! ;)
